Fundraising Platform Fees Explained (and Compared)

Key takeaways

  • Startup fundraising platforms may charge subscriptions, fixed service fees or success fees. Compare the total cost over your expected fundraising period and check what support is included.

  • WOWS Global’s Endorsed and Premier plans list success fees starting at 4% for equity financing and 2% for debt financing, alongside their plan charges.

  • A low platform fee does not necessarily mean a low fundraising bill. Budget separately for any legal work, financial preparation, campaign activity and transaction costs outside your package.

Raising capital should help your business move forward. But before investors put money into your company, you may need to spend money preparing your round and reaching them.

That is where pricing gets confusing. One platform advertises a monthly subscription. Another takes a percentage when funding closes. A third combines advisory work with a success fee.

Understanding startup fundraising platform fees means looking beyond the headline number. What are you buying? When do you pay? How much capital will remain available to run the business?

For founders across Southeast Asia, there is another question: does the platform fit your company’s jurisdiction, target investors and financing needs?

This guide explains the main fee models, compares published pricing and shows how to build a realistic fundraising budget. All monetary amounts below are in USD. Published prices were checked on 4 October 2026.

What fees do startup fundraising platforms charge?

There is no single standard fee. The most useful way to compare proposals is to separate the charges into four categories.

Subscription fees pay for continued access to a platform or service. They may cover a company profile, investor discovery tools or fundraising workflows. Your total depends on how long you stay subscribed, even if the round takes longer than expected.

Fixed service fees cover defined work. This might include preparing materials or setting up a campaign. Ask for the deliverables, revision limits and payment schedule before agreeing to a package.

Success fees are calculated when a qualifying funding transaction closes. The percentage matters, but so does the definition of qualifying funding. A contract might distinguish platform introductions from investors you already know.

Additional charges sit outside the main package. Ask whether third-party work, transaction processing or ongoing administration will be billed separately. Where relevant, also check whether any compensation involves securities rather than cash.

A useful budgeting formula is:

Total fundraising cash cost = plan charges + applicable success fees + additional expenses.

Keep any securities-based compensation separate so its ownership implications remain visible.

WOWS Global fees and plans

The published WOWS Global pricing page lists the following options:

Plan

Published price

Success fee

Main scope

Basic

USD 0 per month

No success fee listed for Basic

Company profile and equity tools

Pitch Ready

USD 249 per month

Zero success fees

Pitch visibility and investor engagement features

Endorsed

USD 999 per month; plan card states four months minimum

From 4% equity; from 2% debt

Dedicated investment manager and campaign support

Premier

From USD 9,999, one-time

From 4% equity; from 2% debt

Full-service preparation including four months of Endorsed listing

The FAQ describes success fees on funding raised through WOWS’ network. “From” means a starting rate, so obtain a written quote. A 4% equity-financing success fee is a fee on capital raised, not a 4% ownership stake in your company. WOWS states that it does not take equity.

Term clarification: the Endorsed plan card says four months minimum, while the FAQ says three. Confirm the applicable commitment in your proposal.

How competitor fees compare

The table below compares different fundraising models. These are not identical service packages, and a listed price does not establish that your company qualifies for a particular offering.

Fundable

Wefunder Community Round, Reg CF

Eligibility, compliance requirements and outside expenses

Wefunder Private Round

Free for founders under its published fee structure

Investor-side fees and the structure used

Fundable describes itself as a software service and states that it does not negotiate or execute securities transactions. That distinction matters when comparing its subscription with a more involved fundraising engagement.

Wefunder’s private-round pricing also shows why founders should examine both sides of a transaction. Its fee page lists a one-time USD 10,000 setup fee for SPV investors and separate fees for investors it introduces. A founder-free service is not necessarily free for every participant.

Choose your shortlist by service fit first. Then compare the charges for the route you can actually use.

What might a fundraising platform cost in practice?

Consider a hypothetical USD 500,000 equity raise using four months of WOWS Endorsed at the published starting rate:

Cost component

Calculation

Amount

Subscription

USD 999 × 4 months

USD 3,996

Success fee

USD 500,000 × 4%

USD 20,000

Combined charges

Subscription plus success fee

USD 23,996

Capital remaining

USD 500,000 minus charges above

USD 476,004

This illustration assumes the entire raise qualifies for the fee, the agreed rate is 4% and the engagement lasts four months. It excludes taxes and additional expenses. A longer engagement or different negotiated rate changes the result.

For a separate hypothetical USD 500,000 debt transaction at 2%, the success fee would be USD 10,000 before plan charges. This is a fundraising fee calculation, not the total borrowing cost. Interest and lender charges need their own budget.

For comparison, four months of Fundable at USD 179 would cost USD 716 in subscription charges. Wefunder’s 7.9% Community Round fee on USD 500,000 would be USD 39,500. These calculations illustrate pricing mechanics, not equivalent services or guaranteed outcomes.

Costs that can sit outside the platform fee

Ask each provider to mark the following items as included, optional or excluded.

Investor materials. Can your current pitch deck explain the opportunity clearly? Does your financial model support the amount you want to raise? If these need work, budget for it before outreach begins.

Legal and financial work. Establish who prepares transaction documents and handles any required accounting work. A platform subscription should not be assumed to cover every professional involved in closing a round.

Campaign execution. Decide who writes outreach, follows up with investors and maintains the data room. If your team handles these tasks, include the time commitment in your comparison even when there is no separate invoice.

Payment and administration. Ask about processing fees, currency conversion and any continuing administration after closing. Fundable, for example, notes that payment processing fees may apply.

Request a single proposal showing the expected total. This makes it easier to compare a bundled package with separately purchased services.

Seven questions to ask before signing

  1. Which funding triggers a success fee? Clarify treatment of existing investors, direct introductions and follow-on investments.

  2. When is the fee payable? Ask how commitments, signed documents and received funds are treated.

  3. What happens with instalments? Establish how the fee works if capital arrives in stages.

  4. What is the minimum commitment? Check renewal, cancellation and any charges after termination.

  5. What work will the team deliver? Turn broad promises of support into specific responsibilities.

  6. What remains payable if no funding closes? Separate recurring or fixed charges from contingent fees.

  7. Which additional expenses require approval? Agree on a process before outside work begins.

Clear answers make a proposal easier to evaluate. They also help both sides avoid different expectations about what a successful engagement includes.

Choosing the right support for your startup

Start with the work your team can already do well.

If you have strong investor relationships, clear materials and someone managing outreach, you may mainly need tools. If preparation is slowing the raise, assess the value of hands-on support alongside the platform price.

For Southeast Asian founders, investor relevance deserves equal attention. Ask whether the provider understands your market and can work with your entity structure, funding stage and intended financing instrument.

WOWS Global’s fundraising support combines investor matching with tools for deal rooms and stakeholder management. Depending on the engagement, support can also include pitch preparation and term sheet discussions. Evaluate the proposed scope against the gaps in your own team.

The practical goal is to pay for work that improves your readiness and execution while keeping enough capital available for the business.

Frequently asked questions

Does a success fee guarantee funding?

No. It describes how compensation is calculated if a qualifying transaction closes. Investors still decide whether to invest, and a platform listing does not promise a completed round.

Can a zero-success-fee platform still cost money?

Yes. A subscription may continue while you raise, and preparation or professional services may be separate. Calculate the expected duration rather than comparing only one month’s price.

Should I choose the lowest percentage?

Compare the full proposal. Consider the fixed cost, fee calculation, investor fit and work included. A percentage alone cannot tell you which engagement meets your needs.

Plan your raise with a clear budget

Before choosing a platform, write down your funding target, expected timeline and preparation gaps. Use those details to request a proposal with clear deliverables and payment terms.
