Tour Amigo: The Quiet Operating System Behind the World's Multi-Day Tours and Cruises
Travel Operations AI Startups Seed 3 Minutes
To the traveler, a ten-day expedition through New Zealand or a river cruise down the Murray feels effortless. To the operator running it, the reality is messier. Behind the scenes sit spreadsheets stacked on spreadsheets, one tool for bookings and another for suppliers, a third for the accounts, and a steady stream of manual re-keying that swallows the day. The cruel math of the business is that as the trips get more popular, the admin grows faster than the revenue.
Tour Amigo set out to break that pattern. The company has built an all-in-one booking and operations platform that pulls itinerary building, reservations, supplier and contract management, financials, and global distribution into a single system, engineered specifically for the operators the rest of travel-tech tends to forget: multi-day tour companies, cruise lines, and destination management companies. Founded out of Australia and now trading as Tour Amigo PTE Ltd with a team scattered across a dozen countries, the company grew out of an early multi-day tour marketplace, then pivoted hard once its founders saw how badly the underlying reservation technology was serving the operators using it.
What emerged is a rare thing: a purpose-built product for an overlooked corner of a roughly $300 billion tours, cruise, and destination-management economy. In 2024, investors took notice, and Tour Amigo closed a $2 million seed round led by Singapore's Wavemaker Partners, with 500 Global following on, to bankroll a push into North America.
Why They Stand Out
Here is the thing most people miss about travel software. The market is crowded with systems built to sell a day tour, a single ticket, an afternoon activity. Multi-day itineraries are a different animal entirely. They carry departures, group logistics, layered suppliers, allocations, and contracts, and generic platforms tend to buckle under that complexity. Tour Amigo is one of the very few technology providers built from the ground up for this multi-day world, and that focus is the whole game.
Consider what actually separates the company from the pack.
It runs on a single source of truth. Instead of duct-taping six tools together, operators plan complex multi-day and cruise itineraries, sell direct and through agents, and manage suppliers, contracts, and finances inside one system. That consolidation is where the time and money quietly reappear.
Distribution comes baked in. Tour Amigo wires operators into OTAs and travel agents through its own network, pushing live availability and pricing from one place while letting each operator keep control of its own commercials on every channel. New markets open up without the usual integration headaches.
And the results are not hypothetical. Great Journeys New Zealand lifted revenue by 35 percent through online booking, global distribution, and a sharper checkout. Murray River Paddlesteamers clawed back an $8,000 booking through Tour Amigo's abandoned-cart follow-up, a sale that would otherwise have vanished. Across its customer base, the company points to roughly 20 percent lower costs and more than half of a team's admin hours handed back.
Then there is the expansion instinct. The launch of Cruise Amigo, a purpose-built product for river and expedition cruise operators, is the tell of a company extending its core platform into rich adjacent niches rather than spreading itself thin.
Why Watch
Tour Amigo occupies an unusually good piece of ground: a large, fragmented market sitting on top of an obvious technology gap. Multi-day operators and DMCs have long been an afterthought for mainstream travel-tech, which means Tour Amigo rarely has to win on price. It wins by being the only serious tool built for the job, and that is the kind of position that produces sticky, high-retention software revenue.
The momentum is visible. There is a seed round backed by investors with deep Southeast Asian roots, a deliberate march into North America (one of the planet's biggest travel markets), fast headcount growth, and a roadmap that keeps widening the target through verticals like cruise. Listen to how the company describes itself and the ambition runs well past a booking tool: a global, AI-driven B2B marketplace and full ERP meant to become the commercial backbone of a client's entire operation. For anyone hunting the next pocket of value in travel-tech, the multi-day and cruise segment is a quiet, under-contested frontier, and Tour Amigo is the clearest name planted in it.
Meet the Team
Murray Decker, Founder and CEO. A former Flight Centre executive with more than 20 years across travel, technology, and commercial leadership who has run his own tour business, Murray brings the operator's-eye view that shapes Tour Amigo's partnerships and product direction.
Aaron Moore, Chief Operating Officer. A 25-year travel-industry veteran with a specialty in travel tech and senior leadership, Aaron runs the operational engine behind Tour Amigo's global growth, customer relationships, and team building.
WOWS Take
Tour Amigo reads like a case study in what a strong venture is supposed to look like. Start with a real, painful problem. Add a team that has lived that problem firsthand. Layer on a defensible niche the giants have ignored, and back it with early evidence that customers grow once they switch on the product. Then give it a clear geographic runway and a vertical playbook already in motion with Cruise Amigo. What you are left with is a company carrying the fundamentals of a category leader in the making.
For founders building in travel-tech, and for the investors watching them, Tour Amigo is a useful reminder: the most attractive opportunities often hide in the unglamorous corners of a huge market, where focus beats breadth every time.
