Founder Spotlight: Harprem Doowa Founder of Eazy Digital
Founder Spotlight
In today's interview, we have the pleasure of speaking with Harprem Doowa, the Founder of Eazy Digital, an insurtech company that is revolutionizing the insurance industry in Southeast Asia. Eazy Digital is on a mission to empower small insurance companies in the region, providing them with cutting-edge digital platforms to compete on an equal footing with their larger counterparts. With a team of industry veterans at the helm, Eazy Digital's innovative SaaS platform enables insurers to streamline and digitize various aspects of their operations, driving efficiency and scalability.
Recently, Eazy Digital achieved a significant milestone by successfully raising $850,000 in an oversubscribed seed round. This funding round was led by Wavemaker Partners, a prominent venture capital firm, and saw participation from other notable investors such as Seedstars International Ventures, Wing Vasiksiri, and Sasin Bangkok Venture Club. This financial support further validates Eazy Digital's vision and underscores the confidence investors have in the company's potential to transform the insurance landscape in Southeast Asia.
Now, let's dive into our interview with Harprem Doowa to gain deeper insights into Eazy Digital's journey, their innovative solutions, and their plans for the future.
Q1. WOWS Global: What inspired you to start your company and has that initial vision evolved over time?
Harprem Doowa: Wanting to build something that would change and move the entire insurance industry forward towards a more digital future. That was my driving force in starting another company. This vision has not changed and it is still something that I am doing daily.
Q2. WOWS Global: Explain what your company does so a 6 year old would understand it.
Harprem Doowa: We help people who sell insurance products sell more using our digital tools.
Q3. WOWS Global: Who is your favorite Entrepreneur and why do you find them inspiring?
Harprem Doowa: To me, the founders of WhatsApp are some that I idolize. They built a billion-dollar business with less than 60 people and were able to exit. This is what I want to be able to do. Build an extremely large company, focusing on tech, and get many many people to use it.
Q4. WOWS Global: When you are at your absolute bottom and are going through professional challenges, how do you lift yourself up?
Harprem Doowa: My absolute bottom was getting fired by the BoD from the first company that I was a co-founder of. I was at the bottom for a day and then I realized that there was nothing I could do about the feeling, but I could maybe do something about the situation to make the best out of it. So the next day I went to the BoD with an offer for them to put someone else in as CEO, hold all my equity in escrow, and allow me to work under the CEO as a second in command. The process took 6 months and I was about to learn everything from a seasoned CEO. I was able to prove myself to them to a point where I was reinstated and able to get back to work as CEO. There are many situations that you will face on your journey. Focus less on how you are feeling about the situation, and more on what you can do to make it better.
Q5. WOWS Global: Why do you believe you are personally best positioned to build your business?
Harprem Doowa: I have the drive, I have the knowledge, the passion, the will, the resources, and the guts to do it. It is not something that a lot of people have in the same combination
Q6. WOWS Global: Over the last 12 months, what is your most profound realization / insight regarding the startup ecosystem?
Harprem Doowa: Running a startup as profitably as you can gets you the best results with clients, investors, and team. You build right from the start, focus on the essentials, and investors love you the more for it.
Q7. WOWS Global: What is your favorite sandwich?
Harprem Doowa: Tuna cheddar melt with pesto sauce and jalapenos.
Q8. WOWS Global: What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs or those looking to start their own companies?
Harprem Doowa: refer back to my most profound realizations and insights above. This is the best way to build something. Focus on your customers. Understand them as well as you can so you can build the right things that they are willing pay for.
